Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways is the national carrier and the second-largest airline of the
United Arab Emirates, following Emirates. Its headquarters are located in
Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, close to Abu Dhabi International Airport. As of March
2025, the airline operates over 1,000 weekly flights from its hub at Abu Dhabi
International Airport, connecting more than 120 passenger and cargo destinations
worldwide.
Founded by a royal decree from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in July 2003, Etihad
began operations in November 2003. It ranks as the third-largest airline in the
Middle East and the second-largest in the UAE, after Dubai-based Emirates. Its
primary hub is Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Beyond its primary focus
on passenger transportation, Etihad also runs Etihad Holidays and Etihad Cargo.
In 2015, Etihad formed its own airline alliance, Etihad Airways Partners, which
includes Alitalia, Jet Airways, airberlin, Niki, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles,
and Etihad Regional.
