Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be
Unaccompanied Minors. If you are allowing your child to fly alone as an
unaccompanied minor, be sure to take every necessary precaution to ensure his or
her safety.
Etihad Airways Unaccompanied Minor service is available for children between
the ages of 5 and 17 years old. To request the service, the first step is to
book your child’s flight.
Children under the age of five are not allowed
to fly alone. They must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Children aged 5 to 11 can use our Unaccompanied Minor service free of
charge. They must be booked on a regular adult fare.
Children aged 12 to
17 can travel on their own adult ticket, but you may choose to pay for the
Unaccompanied Minor service. Guests aged 12 to 17 are not allowed to escort an
Unaccompanied Minor. Legal parents under 18 years old can accompany infants or
children, provided they have the necessary identification.
The service
fee is US $100 each way for direct flights or US $150 each way for connecting
flights.
If you need to change your child’s flight, you must submit a new
Unaccompanied Minor service request. Please ensure you do this at least 24 hours
before the flight. If you request the service at the airport, additional charges
may apply. For children aged 12 to 17, you will only need to pay again if you
change from a direct flight to a connecting flight.
These policies may differ, however, so you should check with Etihad Airways for a description of its rules and services and any additional
charges that may apply.
