Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be Unaccompanied Minors. If you are allowing your child to fly alone as an unaccompanied minor, be sure to take every necessary precaution to ensure his or her safety.

Vietnam Airlines Unaccompanied Minors Policy

Unaccompanied minor assistance is provided for children aged 2 to 12 years traveling alone on Vietnam Airlines flights.

Escort cabin crew service is available for young travelers flying solo. Vietnam Airlines assigns a dedicated flight attendant to care for the child during the journey.

Requests for unaccompanied minor assistance must be submitted at least 24 hours prior to departure. If escort crew service is needed, reservations should be made at least 3 days in advance for itineraries with only domestic flights, and a minimum of 5 days prior to departure for itineraries that include international travel.

Parents or legal guardians must arrange unaccompanied minor and escort crew services through Vietnam Airlines Branch Offices or by sending an email.

Guardians are required to provide detailed information, including the child’s full name, birthdate, age, gender, travel route, and flight date; along with the guardian's full name, contact details, and the names and contacts of the individuals dropping off and picking up the child.

Guardians must review and prepare all necessary documents to meet the requirements of countries, airports, and carriers included in the child’s travel plan.

The escorting adult and the minor must arrive at the departure airport at least 2 hours prior to scheduled departure time. All required documentation must be carried on board for flights where unaccompanied minor service is arranged. The person accompanying the child at departure must complete all necessary formalities and remain at the airport until the flight has taken off.
