Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be
Unaccompanied Minors. If you are allowing your child to fly alone as an
unaccompanied minor, be sure to take every necessary precaution to ensure his or
her safety.
China Airlines offers services for unaccompanied minors, giving you peace of
mind when your child needs to fly alone. These services are available to young
passengers between the ages of 5 and 12, traveling without a parent or guardian
who is at least 18 years old.
To request unaccompanied minor services,
parents or legal guardians must sign the "Consent & Release for Carriage of
Unaccompanied Minors."
The service fees for unaccompanied minors depend
on the child's age, and unaccompanied minors are always charged adult fares.
Reservations for unaccompanied minors must be made at least 72 hours before the
flight's departure.
Please Note: Unaccompanied minors are not permitted
to travel in business class. For further details about unaccompanied minor
services, please contact the China Airlines reservation office.
Adult FIT
fares with RBD W/U/Y/B/M apply to UM tickets. AWARD TICKET/AD/ID tickets do not
qualify for UM travel. For minors (ages 8-12) booked in a different cabin from
their accompanying adult passenger (18+), the reservation may be accepted as an
Accompanied Minor.
These policies may differ, however, so you should check with China Airlines for a description of its rules and services and any additional
charges that may apply.
