Flores
Flores is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying in the region of Nusa Tenggara,
and is the third island east of Bali. Together with Sumba and Timor, Flores has
been familiar as 'Flobamor', one of the names of NTT. Flores is located east of
Sumbawa and Komodo and west of Lembata and the Alor Archipelago.
To the south-east of Flores is Timor, to the south, is Sumba, and to the north,
beyond the Flores Sea, is Sulawesi. Set amidst active volcanoes, and rugged
mountains, Flores which means “flowers” in Portuguese, is a wonderful tourist

Penggajawa Beach, in Flores is one of the best unusual attractions of the place.
Miles of empty beach, with people piling up pastel blue, green, and pink stones,
so that these can be sold for use in landscaping, and exported to far-off lands,
the Penggajawa Beach is a wonderful place to take some amazing photographs in.
The lakes of Kelimutu, in Flores are a major attraction of this town. This is
actually a combination of three volcanic craters in the Mt. Kelimutu, which have
three lakes of different colors. Apparently, these colors often change over
time. It has not yet been discovered as to what causes these colors, but this
mystery has made the volcanic lakes more famous. The last seen colors of the
Lakes of Kelimutu, in 2003, were turquoise, green and red.
