El Tari International Airport
El Tari International Airport (Indonesian: Bandar Udara Internasional El Tari)
(IATA: KOE, ICAO: WATT) is an airport in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.
The airport is named after El Tari, the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara from 1966
to 1978. The airport's ICAO code was changed from WRKK to WATT in 2004.
The Airport used to serve international routes to Dili and Darwin but was closed
in the 1990s due to the alleged violation of human rights by the Indonesian
Armed Forces in East Timor. The Kupang-Dili route is planned to be resumed soon
and it will be operated by Lion Air.
Terminal Facilities
The Airport is well equipped with all facilities for its passengers. A wide
variety of shops and stalls are available throughout the Airport, including a
mini market, clothes boutique, newsagent, restaurants, cafe, ATMs and a shop
selling local handicrafts.
Lounges are available at departure hall and public area of the Airport. There
are also hotels and taxi counters at the arrivals halls.
The Airport provides safe and secure short term and long term parking for your
vehicle during your trip. There is a multi storey car parking facility with
capacity for 730 cars.
The Airport is operated and managed by PT Angkasa Pura I.
Public Transportation
Bus: No airport bus are serving from El Tari International Airport, currently it
serves by minibus outside the Airport with some walk distance from arrivals
hall.
Car and taxi: Various taxi and shuttle services are provided by numerous service
providers outside the arrival hall. There are taxi counters (Taxi Counter
Primkopau) available at the arrival hall.
Technical Specification
The Airport resides at an elevation of 102 m (335 ft) above mean sea level. It
has one runway designated 07/25 with an asphalt surface measuring 2,500 m (8,202
ft) in length.
