Iskandar Airport
Iskandar Airport (IATA: PKN, ICAO: WAGI (Previous : WAOI)) is a military
type-C airport in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia and it is the
only airport in Central Kalimantan which has an Avtur fuel station.
It is the largest military airport in Indonesia with around 3,570 hectares area,
however only 200 hectares is currently used for runway and buildings. Due to the
still vast area unused, it is also functioned as a green lung in the city.
The Airport is managed and controlled by UPT Ditjen Hubud, an agency under
Ministry of Transportation, Indonesia.
The existence of Iskandar Airport is quite popular and important among the city
districts outside Java Island. The airport also serves several intercity flights
and cargo in Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Java Island.

Iskandar Airport resides at an elevation of 75 feet (23 m) above mean sea level.
It has one runway designated 13/31 with an asphalt surface measuring 1,650 by 30
metres (5,413 ft × 98 ft).
The runway was extended to 2,120 metres (6,955 ft) in 2014 to accommodate Boeing
737.

Future Plan
In 2017, Iskandar Airport will propose another airport development funds
from the central government. This fund will be used to increase the run way
length from 2,120 m to 3,570m of the New Terminal development which has a
Design Like Typical Terminal of Central Kalimantan and other facilities.
The potential for the development of Iskandar Airport, in addition to being
supported by the appeal of Tanjung Puting National Park, the natural habitat
of orangutans, as a conservatory tourist destination that has gone
International, is also supported by the fast development of investors and
industries in agrotourism and other agribusiness areas in Kotawaringin Barat
and surrounding areas . Apart from West Kotawaringin district, Sukamara,
Lamandau and most Seruyan regencies, rely on Iskandar Pangkalan Bun Airport
to travel outside the island.
