Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be
Unaccompanied Minors. If you are allowing your child to fly alone as an
unaccompanied minor, be sure to take every necessary precaution to ensure his or
her safety.
China Southern Airlines offers a dedicated Unaccompanied Minors (UM) service
to ensure the safety and comfort of children traveling alone. This service is
available for children aged 5 to 12 years who are flying without a parent or
guardian. It is mandatory for children within this age group and optional for
those aged 12 to 15, who may request the service with parental consent.
Parents or guardians must complete a UM application form during the booking
process and provide detailed contact information for both departure and arrival
points. The airline staff will assist the child through check-in, boarding, and
in-flight services, and ensure a smooth handover to the designated person at the
destination.
The UM service must be booked at least 24 hours before
departure, and additional service fees may apply. Unaccompanied Minors are only
accepted on direct or connecting flights operated by China Southern Airlines.
Some international routes may have restrictions based on transit requirements or
destination regulations.
For the safety of the child, China Southern does
not allow UMs on codeshare flights or itineraries involving overnight layovers.
It is advised to contact customer service for specific route eligibility and to
confirm arrangements in advance.
These policies may differ, however, so you should check with China Southern Airlines for a description of its rules and services and any additional
charges that may apply.
